Thai MassageI practice Northern Thai (Lanna) style Thai massage. I have been living part of each year in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, since 2001. I speak enough Thai to be understood by the local people. I bought a house there in 2005. Most days in Chiang Mai I get 2 hours of Thai massage. Knowing the culture, and receiving this amount of Thai massage, has given me a deep, body centered knowledge of this ancient healing practice. My clients have found that they have effective relief from lower, mid and upper back pain, gain flexibility and peace of mind. |
Thai massage has its own energy system of sen lines, which is related to the Chinese acupuncture meridian system,
and to the yoga nadi (energy nerve) system.
Through working in this energy system, the results of the massage stay with the client for three
days to a week or more. In contrast, the benefits of western massage are often lost within minutes of
leaving the massage table.
This form of bodywork is unique, because it incorporates yoga stretches. It is sometimes referred to as
"lazy man's yoga"!
Thai massage is particularly effective for anyone working in a sedentary job, and for
people who work out, or are athletes, and who need to do more stretching to avoid injuries.
All the benefits of yoga are found in Thai massage. Once I started giving Thai massage in 2001, all my clients
switched to it. I no longer give western style massage, as Thai massage is so much more effective.
