Guy and Muay work together at the Healing Center, combining their unique backgrounds and complementary intuitive skills.
Guy has been practicing yoga for over 30 years, and teaching it for more than 15 years. His style is a slow yin approach based on yoga therapy combined with Iyengar. He studied under Richard Ward in Bristol, UK from 1979 to 1989, and under Larry Hatlett in Palo Alto, California from 1989 until 2008. Both Richard and Larry are senior Iyengar teachers. Guy was certified as an Integrative Yoga Therapy teacher by Joseph Lepage in 1996. Guy's yoga practice is a combination of Yoga Therapy and Iyengar styles and he has been a yoga teacher since 1994. Since 2002 he has been teaching Thai Massage (including teaching at Tao Gardens, Chiang Mai in January 2009) and Chi Gong.
Guy began offering Western syles of massage after training in California frm 1996 to 1998. In 1998 he first went to Thailand and learned Thai massage. After that, he changed from doing Western massage to offering Thai massage and reflexology at his center in Sunnyvale, California. From 2001 until 2008 Guy spent more time each year in Chiang Mai, until he moved to Chiang Mai full time in 2008.
Guy has been a steadfast vegan since 1985 (even surviving travels in northern India!) Guy learnt Tibetan Chi Gong in 1998, and has an extensive daily chi gong and yoga practice. Guy also has considerable detox cleansing and fasting experience.
One of Guy's main interests is in energy work. He uses many energy traditions in his work on himself and on clients, including reflexology, cranio-sacral, medical chi gong, crystal therapy, shen (an energy system based on Egytian and Taoist principles) and the use of pyramids. He has been teaching reiki since 1995.
Articles written by Guy:
Muay learned Thai massage in her home town of Ubon Ratchathani, north east Thailand in 2005. She then moved to Chiang Mai and worked as a Thai massage therapist. She and Guy have been together since 2006. Muay sarted training in Traditional Thai Medicine in 2008. She passed her Thai Midwife national exam in 2009, and her Doctor of Thai Herbs national exam in 2010.
Muay has been helping friends and clients with her understanding of herbs. She found an ancient Thai Ayurvedic formula in an old book written in the time of King Rama V (150 years ago), and extended the formula from the original 21 to 23 herbs, adding Moringa and Trikala, both powerful antioxidants used to treat cancer and HIV in Thailand. We call it Yaa Vinyaan (Soul Herbs), because it is a very powerful energetic detox of all the five koshas, whereas many herbal preparations focus only on physical issues. Guy has taken this formula daily since October 2010, and has had a continuing and profound detox experience with it, on many levels.
